if you live in san francisco (or have a thing for diners) you've probably heard about the local fight to save the last standing doggie diner dachshund... at one time there were more than 30 in the bay area, but only one, put up in 1963, is left standing. it's across from the zoo and above the carousel hot dog stand (the last doggie diner closed in the mid-80s). the sign recently got a five year reprieve, but it's future is uncertain. stop by for a snack (grilled cheese and root beer for me this time) and check out this faded, rusted piece of history...
