at BRUNOS???

well, maybe not today, but that's why brunos was dubbed "little city hall" back in the 50s and 60s... now mostly a spot for hipsters and others trying to make the scene, this newly reopened restaurant/bar/nightclub is right in line with the lounge/cocktail revival in san francisco. it originally opened as an italian restaurant in 1940 and eventually became the place where "mayors were made." after changing hands many times, it reopened november of last year after six months of renovation... renovation that included replicating a neon "cocktails" sign from 1952 blueprints of the exterior... i love it when people respect the history of a place...

don't worry if you forgot the address...
(mission between 19th and 20th)...
you can't miss it.

dark red booths and low light...
perfect for a relaxing dinner out...

the bartender mixing up cocktails
(while the clubfoot orchestra played in the cork room...)

this is what i call the oddball booth...
all alone and different than the rest... (i like it).
