this week
st. patricks day!

st. patricks day at "the irish bank" in san francisco... (it opened in january 1996 as the "bank of ireland" but the financial institution recently won an injunction against the pub using the name... so they "reopened" as the irish bank on march 17...) serving lunch, dinner and spirits 7 days a week, the bank is often packed at night (on most friday evenings the crowd spills out into the alley and feels like a frat party with an irish twist), but it's relatively quiet if you want to escape somewhere during the afternoon. the people are quite friendly and the walls are adorned with antiques and (some fabulous) black and white photographs... each-and-every-one brought over from ireland. there are several great old-time irish bars in the city, and i feel a little bit guilty covering a newcomer first, but i wanted to catch the rockabilly music they had performing the alley outside while i enjoyed my celebratory guinness... so...

a lively crowd for the holiday...

tons o' trinkets all brought over from ireland....

"lloyd and his 3 tons o' fun"...
good straight up rockabilly....

a couple of fans... elizabeth and jenn...

a peak inside on a quiet afternoon...
